Rob's love of photography started in high school and has gained momentum ever since.  Seeing an image for the first time in a darkroom's developing tray was an instant thrill; from that point he was hooked.  The darkroom has since been replaced by a computer in the office, though the photography principles are still the same.  Rob's philosophy is to allow subjects to relax in front of the camera for natural moments to unfold; real and unplanned moments are what make great photos.

Since graduating from Grand Valley State University with a degree in photography in 1993, Rob has worked doing both commercial and documentary photography.  His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune, as well as being a regular contributor to The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, and the European Pressphoto Agency.
